Doodle Assault is a classic side scrolling shooter by Four Hundred Games with an awesome retro twist. You control a paper plane fighter, thrown too far out of class one day. Your mission: destroy the enemy doodles and reunite with your maker before he gets out of class and you are lost forever.

The tilt controls and automatic firing make the game play completely intuitive. As you destroy the evil doodles, you are able to collect coins with which you can purchase upgrades for your paper fighter. Additionally, there are upgrades throughout the levels which will give you paper crane shields, speed boosts, and special weapons upgrades.

What really makes this game special is the care that has gone into its graphics and sounds. As you maneuver your craft over the desk-strewn-with-notebook-paper landscape, whimsical interpretations of random mutant creatures-the kind one might find scribbled in the margins of a notebook from a boring lecture class- attack you. This comic book style is reinforced by the catchy, 8bit style, melodic music, the quality of which is rarely equaled.

Overall, this is an excellent game that I would highly recommend. Admittedly, I have not been able to put this one down. Outstanding music, graphics, and controls make this first offering from Four Hundred Games a must have. At the time of this review Doddle Assault is free.
